Thousands of supporters of the Russian Communist Party (CPRF) marched through central Moscow to mark International Workers' Day on Tuesday.

Demonstrators demanded progressive taxation, subsidies for agricultural industries, as well as increases in salaries and pensions. Around 12,000 people reportedly participated in the rally. CPRF head Gennady Zuyganov was reportedly not present.

Demonstrators carried banners reading "It's time to throw Capitalism away" and "Socialism instead of Putin."
