US shedding 'crocodile tears' over civilian deaths in Eastern Ghouta: Analyst

An analyst believes the United States is shedding “crocodile tears” over civilian deaths in militant-held Eastern Ghouta, adding that it is hypocritical of Washington to express concern about the issue while its airstrikes continue to kill people in Syria.

“This is the last enclave near Damascus but there is strange silence on part of the West when these … rebels have been shelling and firing rockets into Damascus itself with result of many civilians having been killed and there is deafening silence on this topic,” Edward Corrigan told Press TV in an interview on Thursday.

Eastern Ghouta has witnessed deadly violence over the past days, with foreign-sponsored terrorists there launching mortar attacks on Damascus in the face of an imminent humiliating defeat.

Western powers, however, blame the Syrian government and Russia for the crisis.
