Thousands have participated in the funeral procession of 14 members of the People's Protection Units (YPG) militant group in Syria’s northwestern region of Afrin.
The Turkish military started launching airstrikes and rockets on Kurdish positions in Afrin shortly after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the launch of a military operation dubbed Olive Branch. The Turkish president also declared that the next destination for Turkish forces would be Syria's Manbij.
Turkey views the YPG, which is active in northern Syria, as an extension of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militant group.
According to reports, at least 150 people have so far been died in Turkey's military campaign against the YPG in Afrin.
