English Premier League side Everton have been humiliated 5-1 by Italy's Atalanta in the Europa League at the Goodison Park.

The visitors went ahead after 12 minutes when Bryan Cristante converted from close range after Everton defender Ashley Williams’ weak clearance. In the second half, Atalanta managed to double their lead through Cristante again who scored before the hour mark, making it 2-0.

Spanish striker Sandro Ramirez scored his first goal for the Toffees with 19 minutes remaining to cut the deficit. But Robin Gosens killed any hope of a comeback for the hosts as he restored the Italian’s two- goal cushion with a well-struck dipping volley.

Danish striker Andreas Cornelius then add two more to seal the 5-1 victory for his side and secure their spot in the knockout stage of the tournament.
