Spain is in a deep crisis: It's about the independence fever raging through the Catalonia region. The regional parliament has declared Catalonia's independence Spain. But that has not gone down well with authorities in Madrid. The government of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has vowed to resist the move. The showdown has been described as Spain's worst crisis since the country's new constitution was ratified in 1978. Regional and international media have discussed the issue.
