Catching 40 winks in the airport is a little easier in Mexico City with its first capsule hotel, an ultra-economical and pod-style accommodation for the travelers on the go.

Each pod measures about 2 meters (over 6 feet) long and about 1 meter (3 feet) in width and height. For passengers waiting for their transfers to Mexico's beach hotspots like Tulum or Baja California, the capsule hotel is a welcome alternative to slouching on airport seats.

And at about $30 US dollars a capsule, the accessible price point makes it attractive for the millions passing through one of Latin America's biggest airports.

The concept of the capsule hotel is not a new one. The first such establishment opened in Japan in 1979 and has since grown in popularity amongst frugal travelers, expanding across Asia, Europe and now Latin America.
