When we caution against materialism, are we not in danger of stifling development? Is that not harking back to a nomadic or caveman-like existence. Or is this a too-simplistic polarization of a complex set of ideas?
Islam is not against the welfare and well-being of Muslims; rather it is against any economic rift leading to deprivation and the misery of some in the society. And the fact is that prosperity must not be a hindrance to seeking proximity to the Almighty.
