US has always been on Israel’s side: Activist

The United States has blocked the appointment of former Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to lead the UN mission in Libya, in a move intended to reassure the Tel Aviv regime of the new US administration’s support for Israel at the world body.

Paul Larudee, member of the Free Palestine Movement believes the United States has always been on Israel’s side, adding that the only difference now is that Washington is openly supporting Tel Aviv.

“The US has always stood firmly behind Israel. The difference is that in previous administrations they might have negotiated behind closed doors to prevent Salam Fayyad from being the envoy or they might have said okay, let him be the envoy but let’s shackle his hands and legs in the process and we can deal with it in that way … The difference with the Trump administration in the United States is that all of these things are out in the open now,” the activist told Press TV in an interview on Saturday.

Noting that the United States has always defended Israel’s worst atrocities, Larudee said this is still the case.

Therefore, he said, any gesture in the direction of the Palestinians and any restriction at all on the Israelis will be stopped by the United States.

Larudee further stated the United States will fully support unlimited settlements, demolitions, expulsion of Palestinians, and confiscation of their natural resources, or anything that would accelerate the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

He also opined that anything that is to the detriment of Israel is “unfair” from the United States point of view.

According to the activist, the Americans definition of unfair “is a playing field that is not level but rather vertical with the Israelis and the US on the upper end and the Palestinians and whoever wants to dispute with them at the lower end”.
