A famous Nigerian-British artist has unveiled a massive sculpture in a park located in his childhood city Lagos.
Yinka Shonibare’s first public sculpture in Nigeria is named 'Wind Sculpture VI'. The fiberglass work is 6 meters high and 3 meters wide and has a batik design.
The sculpture will be on exhibit for the next 3 months and the park will be the venue for talks and workshops over that period.
The exhibition is part of a cultural exchange program between Nigeria and the British Council.
Shonibare who has lived in Nigeria between the ages of 5 and 17, is well celebrated in the UK and across the world for his achievements in art despite his physical disability.
