Talks break down between Mexican teachers, government

The Mexican government’s push for educational reforms has faced resistance from a teachers’ union which roundly rejects the proposals. After negotiations broke down this week, the government announced it would entirely ignore the union’s demands, and fire any teacher who refuses to comply.
