African governments to introduce legislation to curb cybercrime

African governments are rushing to introduce legislation to curb cybercrime and to regulate the use of social media platforms, as the mobile revolution continues to force change across Africa. However, critics are concerned that the laws could also be used to clamp down on the use of online platforms to express dissent and promote good governance and citizen engagement.
