Syria: Back to war

The negotiations between the Syrian government and the Saudi-backed High Negotiations Committee hit an impasse after the HNC quit the negotiating table over what it called violations of the ceasefire by the Syrian troops. Damascus has also accused the militants of having violated the truce many times. Russia, Syria’s powerful ally, has also condemned the HNC for quitting the talks. A Russian officials called the HNC’s decision to leave the negotiations wrong. He also said blackmail, threats and preconditions have become the HNC’s quote-trademark.

Yemen peace talks

Over one year has passed into Saudi Arabia's war on Yemen. And the U-S has played a key role in fuelling the tensions there. The deadly conflict has had devastating effect on the whole country. US president has held meetings with Persian Gulf Arab leaders in Saudi Arabia. In a private meeting with d Abu Dhabi’s crown prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahayan, he called for a political settlement to Yemen's crisis.

US anti-Iran ruling

More signs have appeared to further prove that the wall of mistrust between Iran and the US is still there to stand strong. The US Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled that Iran must hand over about $2 billion in frozen assets to survivors and relatives of those killed in attacks blamed on Tehran. At the heart of the case is an attack in 1983 on a US Marine Corps barracks in the Lebanese capital of Beirut.  Iran has strongly rejected the US allegation of involvement in the Beirut incident as politics taking the place of justice in US courts.
