Explosions, followed by gunfire, rock the area near the Indian Consulate in eastern Afghanistan.Local officials say the mission was most probably the target of the attack in the city of Jalalabad. The blasts shattered doors and windows and destroyed several cars. A gun battle reportedly broke out between security forces and the attackers following the blast. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the assault and no fatalities were immediately reported. The Indian Foreign Ministry confirmed all its nationals are safe. The area is home to other diplomatic missions like Iran’s and Pakistan’s. In January, Daesh terrorists attacked the nearby Pakistani Consulate.
