US exploiting terrorism to justify occupation policy: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Kevin Barrett, the editor of Veterans Today from Madison, to discuss the last defense budget of the US President Barack Obama's administration.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Daesh, China, and Russia, these are some of the major challenges or enemies the US has pinpointed for its defense budget by the Pentagon. What do you make of it?

Barrett: Well obviously, we are not talking about a defense budget; we are talking about an offense budget. None of these countries or entities poses any real threat to the United States. The really scary one, Daesh, we are seeing pictures that have been filmed in Hollywood studios and put out to the world by Rita Katz of SITE intelligence group which is part of the Israeli Mossad where they do fake beheadings and sound stages to scare the American people. That was created by the United States. So, the six or seven billion dollars they are going to spend is not to fight Daesh. It is to keep Daesh going. Because the reality here is that there are no countries or entities capable of genuinely attacking, invading or otherwise seriously damaging the United States. There have not been for a very long time.

In fact, the last defensive war that the United States fought arguably was the war 1812, two hundred years ago, So, what is really happening here is we have a bunch of psychopaths in power who insist on the right to control the entire world and they are attacking Russia, they are moving nuclear weapons right up to Russia’s borders totally violating the solemn promises given in 1990s. They are just playing havoc in the Middle East. We have been hijacked by the Israelis who blew up the twin towers on 9/11, blew up the Pentagon with the connivance of Bush administration officials not their insiders in order to terrorize the American people into a one-hundred-year war for Israel that would also benefit the military industrial complex. Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us about it in his fair well-documented address in 1960. So, the United States is the biggest rogue state in existence. It made Hitler’s Germany look like Mother Teresa and it is going to destroy the planet unless we stop it.

Press TV: Mr. Barrett you are saying that no matter what be it China’s growing military might, be it Russia and the question of Ukraine, or be it even Daesh, the US is going to continue militarizing itself and continuing with its policy of occupation and military intervention?

Barrett: Of course it has, because we do not have a real democratic political system here anymore. It was overthrown a long time ago. When the military industrial complex led by a cabal within the CIA working with Lyndon Johnson murdered President John F. Kennedy who wanted to disarm, that was the death now of American democracy. Ever since then this country has been rode behind the scenes by a fascist military industrial complex. They have murdered more than 50 million probably closer to 60 million people all over the world in US' CIA and military interventions since World War II.  That figure is very well-documented in Chomsky’s book on Western terrorism.

In reality, the real military budget is well over 700 billion dollars. That is more than the rest of the world put together. So, we have a group of out of control psychopaths who are mass murdering people all over the world that is far behind anything Hitler ever dreamed [of]. They are planning, continuing and pushing right up against Russia’s borders with nuclear weapons possibly planning for a nuclear war that could significantly degrade if not end life on the planet.
