Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani says Iran and Luxembourg are determined to seriously fight terrorism as a major problem in the region.

Larijani made the remarks in a joint press conference with President of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies, Mars Di Bartolomeo, in Tehran on Saturday following an earlier meeting between the two sides.

“We agreed on the issue that there is a need for a firm determination in the fight against terrorism,” Larijani said.

Pointing to his “good and constructive” talks with Di Bartolomeo, the Iranian Majlis Speaker said they emphasized the importance of bolstering parliamentary relations.

He expressed hope that bilateral negotiations between officials of the two countries would open new horizons for joint investment, particularly following the removal of sanctions against Iran.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is expected to issue its final report on Saturday confirming Iran’s compliance with its nuclear obligations under an agreement reached between the Islamic Republic and six world powers, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), last July.

The sanctions imposed against Iran by the United Nations, United States and European Union will be lifted when the IAEA declares Tehran’s compliance with the JCPOA.

The president of the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies arrived in Iran on Thursday at the head of a parliamentary delegation to hold talks with Iranian officials. He also held a day-long visit to southern Iranian city of Shiraz on Friday.
