State of emergency paves way for neo-fascist victory in France

The far-right National Front Party has topped the polls in France’s first round of regional elections. The results come while France is under a state of emergency as well as a long-running atmosphere of xenophobia. Many say the vote shows that French people have been comfortable with extreme right-wing ideas for some time.
