Britain’s ruling Conservative party has fielded multimillionaire MP with rebellious streak for the 2016 London mayoral race.
Zac Goldsmith who is a sitting MP from Richmond Park and North Kingston won 70% of votes cast in online primary against three other Tory contenders for the mayor nomination.

Goldsmith will take on Labour's Sadiq Khan who won the party nomination last month. Khan beat a number of former and current Labor MPs to contest the mayoral seat.
Other contenders on the list are Caroline Pidgeon from Lib Dem; Sian Berry from Green Party and Peter Whittle from the UK Independent Party. Former Respect party MP George Galloway is also running for the post.

Goldsmith, who was the favorite for the Tory nomination on the day one, has confirmed that he would resign upon winning the mayor position. He also pledged to continue the work of the current mayor, Boris Johnson but said if “anyone who wants to put himself in Boris's shoes would be mad”.
He added that the people wanted someone who "will bend George Osborne's ear and get a good deal for London".
