Israel backing anti-Palestinian extremism: Pundit

Press TV has interviewed journalist and Middle East expert Hafsa Kara Mustapha from London, and president of the Middle East Research Center Richard Hellman from Washington, to discuss the Tel Aviv regime’s project of Judaization of al-Quds and the al-Aqsa Mosque.

Kara-Mustapha rejects as “absolutely preposterous” the idea that the Israeli regime allows followers of all religions to practice their faith, adding that Israeli troops disrupted Christians’ religious ceremony in Bethlehem at the Christmas time in 2004.

Israeli armed forces support the extremist settlers who enter al-Aqsa Mosque and throw stones at Muslim worshipers, she maintains, adding that there have been repeated harassments by Zionist settlers against Palestinians at the holy site in recent months because the right-wing regime of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promotes anti-Muslim crimes.

The Middle East expert adds that Zionist settlers attack Muslim and Christian worshipers, write graffiti on the walls of mosques and churches, and even desecrate holy prophets of Islam and Christianity in the occupied lands.

The Israeli regime is attempting to steal all symbols of Muslims and Christians in order to promote Zionism and pursue its expansionist policy in the Palestinian land, she concludes.

Hellman, for his part, believes the Israelis have to intervene to keep order in al-Aqsa Mosque and provide the settlers with the opportunity to enter the holy place on the occasion of the Jewish New Year.
