Hezbollah gaining upper hand against terrorists: Commentator
Press TV has conducted an interview with Ibrahim Mousawi, a political commentator in Beirut, about Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah striking heavy blows at terrorist groups in Lebanon.
The following is a rough transcription of the interview.
Press TV: What do you attribute this change on the ground there that now even Hezbollah leaders are saying that they have the upper hand against these terrorist groups- well we are talking about al-Qaeda or al-Nusra Front or ISIL?
Mousawi: Well the absolute answer and the simple answer for this question is that you are talking here about an accumulative process, you are talking about a battle that has been fought, you are talking about a war that has been waged by the Takfiri groups since three, four years.
You know through the course of the years people, the resistance, they developed their own techniques, their own procedures against the Takfiris and we have to understand that many devastating blows has been dealt to the Takfiri groups starting by 2013 when Hezbollah was able to liberate al-Qusayr strategic city in the northern border of Lebanon and then you have this Qalamoun area reaching to Zabadani area. So you are talking here about a continuous operation that has been done by the Lebanese resistance, by Hezbollah fighters along with the Syrian army against the Takfiri groups.
We know very well from the story of the resistance in Lebanon against the Israeli occupation, against the Israeli enemy that there was a kind of normal, gradual process in developing the techniques, in developing the operations. Now you have more coordination, you have more information, you have more intelligence sources on the ground gathering information, pinpointing the goals of the enemy so here you are talking about a kind of intricate, sophisticated operations that has culminated together to bring Hezbollah to where it is now to have the upper hand.
My understanding is that this was a very normal result for the capabilities of Hezbollah let alone the devotion of the fighters of Hezbollah. You are talking about dedicated, devoted people who are fighting for their cause who are defending the Muslims, the fellow Lebanese, the Lebanese cause, the Lebanese integrity, so here you have so many different reasons pouring together in order to help restore the capabilities, in order to help bring this kind of upper hand for Hezbollah side.
