Press TV has conducted an interview with Hussain al-Bukhaiti, activist and political commentator in Sana’a, to discuss the recent Saudi ground invasion of Yemen.
Following is a rough transcription of the interview.
Press TV: How worse will the situation in Yemen become now that Saudi Arabia has launched a ground invasion into Yemen?
Bukhaiti: The situation is getting worse as well especially when Saudis have announced that they wouldn’t allow any ship or food supplies coming through the port and as well they have announced they are not going to allow any plane coming to Sana’a airport because they want to direct everything to Aden. And as well with the land invasion, this is an international actually land invasion the same countries and powers that have invaded Iraq, are invading Yemen now using Saudi territory and the situation, as I mentioned, is getting worse. Fuel shortages, medicine shortages, as well we have many people who are sick, injured and ill who can’t go, travel and leave the country or to go to get the right medical help. ….because now it’s an invasion against the country, so this invasion is not going make them weaker; it will make them stronger.
Press TV: Why doesn't Yemen take legal action against Saudi Arabia?
Bukhaiti: …because government is recognized by the outside, it is the government that has fled and raged this war against Yemen in Saudi Arabia which headed by former president Hadi and as well Khaled Bahah. So, [regarding] this legal step sometimes in some international court, there has to be the government to take this action but still everybody must remember that it took a while for the Palestinian people to bring some of the cases and the crimes Israel has done into Gaza and now some commanders of the Israeli army can’t leave the country. It’s the same, it will take a while and we will see soon names like the ministry of defense of Saudi Arabia, other generals, it might even be the king of Saudi Arabia [whose] names will be soon at international courts because they have done crimes against humanity in Yemen.
Press TV: With Saudi Arabia’s ground invasion into Yemen, how are the Ansarullah forces able to react and defend the nation do you think?
Bukhaiti: …because this ground invasion has come with a huge force, and as I mentioned this ground invasion not only from Saudi Arabia. You know the Saudi Arabia’s army is not well-trained in real battle but we know that the United States of America, Britain, France and many other European countries as well as ten of our neighboring countries, which are the richest countries in the world, are all behind this attack. So, it will take a while until we see a direct response or until we see the advance of the Yemeni army and the popular committee. Hopefully, we will see in coming days that the popular committee and the Yemeni army will start guerrilla war which the Saudi army and other armies are not well trained to do so. And we have seen as well in Iraq when the American army invaded Iraq, it took a while until the resistance of Iraq took action and fought the [enemy] forces.
