Press TV has interviewed Jalal Fairooz, a Middle East expert in London, about Saudi Arabia’s ongoing aggression against Yemen which is in violation of a new humanitarian truce introduced by the United Nations.

Following is a rough transcription.

Press TV: The Saudis have again violated the humanitarian truce in Yemen. It seems that the Saudis have no intention of halting their lethal and deadly campaign against Yemen.

Feirooz: That is true. It seems that the Saudis do not want to stop their arrogant attacks on the civilians and they do not think that humanitarian [truce] is in their favor. That is why they have attacked even Western convoys, that is the Italian convoy which was heading just to supply some basic needs for the… it has been almost three months now since the these heavy bombardments of the civilians in Yemen.

It seems that the world is just watching, even the United Nations does not condemn all these attacks on the humanitarian aid. The way they want it is that the aid does not have to go directly to the Yemenis; they have to go to Djibouti and from there the Saudis and their allies need to analyze things and then decide what needs to go in and what doesn’t but they don’t care if the people of Yemen are suffering or the children don’t have the milk or even the basic needs for the civilians.

Press TV: Many are already calling the UN humanitarian truce too little too late. Do you believe that the international community has failed the people of Yemen?

Fairooz: Of course it did. Actually all the world has been seeing how bad the humanitarian situation in Yemen is; even shortage of basic utilities including water, electricity and gas. People in Yemen do not have enough food for their children. They have been living on the basic seeds which they can plant in their backyards but it seems that the world doesn’t care about that.

All the cries of the women and the children do not even make Ban Ki-moon or the allies of the Saudis to blink and see a better situation for the Yemenis. It seems that they don’t want to stop this war until they get what they want from the Yemeni people and the Yemeni people, of course, are trying their best to survive this war and without any friends assisting them it seems very difficult for them but they are trying to survive.
