Press TV has interviewed Richard Becker, with the ANSWER Coalition from San Francisco, and Frederick Peterson, a congressional defense policy adviser from New York, to discuss the US’ human rights record and its annual report on human rights in other countries.

Becker says the United States’ society is suffering from different problems, but American authorities issue politically motivated annual reports to condemn human rights records in countries that are in adversarial relations with Washington.

American authorities issue such human rights reports to win public opinion and pave the way for future plots, including imposing sanctions and military intervention, against sovereign nations, he maintains.

The political expert says there are vast human rights violations in the United States regarding police brutality, imprisonment and discrimination.

He notes the US does not respect even the right to food for every human, adding, “The property rights take priority over human rights” while there are over 19 million empty residences in the country and millions of people are living on the streets or in “crammed bad housing conditions.”

For his part, Peterson believes the United States is not a perfect nation and there are not perfect nations on the earth as well; however, the US continues to be an exponent of very best morals within the human experience.
