Press TV has conducted an interview with Hussein al-Bukhaiti, activist and political commentator in Sana’a, to discuss the ongoing Saudi military aggression against Yemen.
The following is a rough transcription of the interview.
Press TV: Sixty plus days at this point of bombardment going on. If there was any plans there of Saudi Arabia trying to eliminate the Ansarullah movement’s storage facilities, it is beyond that at this point. What type of plans does Saudi Arabia have when this has been prolonged for this length of time because obviously it just seems like infrastructures being destroyed and people being killed?
Bukhaiti: Actually the Saudi plan in Yemen has failed because the first call they declared after they declared war against Yemen was to bring back Hadi and to send the Houthis back to north of Yemen, to Sa’ada.
They failed in doing that and as well they said that they have succeeded in destroying 90 percent of Houthis and the Yemeni army weapons storage and it seems that they have failed as well because yesterday we have seen the Yemeni army has launched a Scud missile on Khalid airbase in Khamis Mushait and this Scud missile has shown that the Saudis have failed and the only thing that they have succeeded in is just in killing civilians, killing women and children and destroying Yemeni infrastructure and schools and medical centers and hospitals all across the country.
Press TV: And at the political front how do you see things panning out? Do you foresee this UN conference putting any type of solution that may perhaps bring parties to the table? Of course we know that Saudi Arabia does not want Ansarullah movement to be in any shape or form part of Yemen’s future?
Bukhaiti: Yes I think the Saudis will come to a term now that they have to accept Ansarullah movement in Yemen and they have to accept them to be part of any coming government.
So this conference that hopefully can start in Geneva on the 14th and as the UN has declared is without any precondition, this was against the Saudis’ will, who have insisted to have their outcome of Riyadh conference as legitimate to have any new agreement based on this Riyadh outcomes.
But surely the UN said no precondition and of course if there will be any talk I do not think that Ansarullah or the GPC (the General People's Congress) or anyone from Yemen who will take part in there, I do not think anybody can accept that the strike will continue. So the strike must stop for any peace talk that will take place in Geneva.
