Iran has qualified for FIVB Volleyball Men’s U23 World Championship as it squeezed into the Asian final.

In a spectacular comeback, the Iranian team stunned Chinese Taipei 3-2 in a thrilling semifinal of the 2015 Asian Men’s U23 Volleyball Championship in Myanmar.

The Asian powerhouse Iran came from 25-19, 25-22 behind to hand Chinese Taipei a 25-22, 25-20, 15-12 defeat.
Iran manager Peyman Akbari had Mostafa Baqeri to thank for garnering seven consecutive serve points in the deciding third set to make it 18-13 and help win the set 25-22.

“Today is very, very difficult for our team. We beat the other teams 3-0 in our previous matches, but not today against Chinese Taipei. We changed many players in this match to find the right formula. Our goal is to qualify for the world championship and we did it,” Akbari said.

The victory awarded a fight in Wednesday’s final against South Korea that extracted a 22-25 25-20 25-16 20-25 win over China in the other semifinal.

The Iranian coach admitted that South Korea is strong tactically and technically, saying, “Their blocking, service and spiking are excellent. We will do our best.”
