Press TV has conducted an interview with Redwan Rizk, a political commentator in Beirut, about Sunni fighters from Iraq’s western province of Anbar joining the country’s Popular Mobilization Forces in their fight against ISIL Takfiri terrorists.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: Please talk to us more about the ever-increasing wave of volunteer forces joining the Iraqi army in the battle against the ISIL and also about the significant gains that the Iraqi forces backed by those volunteers have made against the Takfiri ISIL terrorists?

Rizk: Well, I believe that this is a very important step to eliminate the crisis in Iraq because this proves the failure of the plot that the United States tried to implement in Iraq, [that it] has been vanished and it is not working at all.

By those fighters and without calling them Sunnis… they come from a province where it was under control of ISIL… I believe that it proves that the unity of the Iraqi people is not questionable at all, it is not doubtful at all.

I believe that those fighters coming from those areas in Iraq, backing up the Iraqi army again against terrorism, that proves that those terrorist groups can be contained, can be surrendered and then can be eliminated and that the United States was trying to implement something totally different during the raids over Iraq because they have offered the Iraqi government to arm Sunnis and Kurds in Iraq, they were trying to implement their strategy of creating sectarian state.

Now this strategy or this plot of the United States is not working anymore and the Iraqi people showed very high responsibility and very high patriotic feelings and also commitment to their country by joining the official Iraqi forces, by assuring that the Iraqi people are going to line up behind the army and that the terrorist groups - I believe - in Iraq will have no future at all and it is only a matter of time before the Iraqi people would join all their forces - Kurds, Sunnis, Shias and all other minorities. They are going to unite behind their government, behind their army and it is a matter of time before they can cleanse the Iraqi soil from those devils who were backed up by Saudi Arabia, by the Israelis and by the Americans.

So it is promising a very bright future for Iraq and those terrorist groups who were depending on or hoping that the Iraqis can be divided into sectarian groups and they will benefit out of that, that they were hoping that they will have some sort of welcoming environment from some areas in Iraq… I believe this is something that was very short and it was not long before that the Iraqi people were just waking up and they were reconsidering their positions.

And I believe that they have changed their positions, the way they looked at those terrorist groups and I believe that now they are all going to line up behind their government, behind their forces and they will create their own protection militias and join the official army to cleanse Iraq from those terrorist groups.
