Following Iraqi military advances in Salahuddin province, the ISIL terrorists have abandoned Tikrit and Baiji to focus on regions south and southwest of Kirkuk. Basheer is one of those regions. It has been under ISIL control for over nine months now. Turkmen Shia Brigades are currently spearheading a campaign against the ISIL in the area.
