A Russian man is set to become the first person in the world to undergo a head transplant operation.
That’s right! Valery Spiridonov has put himself forward for the first operation of its kind. The 30-year-old computer scientist was born with a genetic muscle-wasting disorder that has left him seriously disabled since birth. Every year his condition worsens and he doesn't really have many choices. The operation will be carried out by an Italian surgeon. And it’s expected to be a 36-hour procedure involving 150 doctors and nurses. It’s set to take place early next year and Valery is looking forward to it.
