McDonald's workers march against minimum wages

MIRAMAR, FL - APRIL 02: A McDonald

Protesters marched on a Los Angeles McDonald’s to call out the company for low wages. The action follows an announcement by McDonald’s to raise wages by one dollar for workers at company-owned stores. But the decision will not cover workers at the 14-thousand franchise locations, which make up 90 percent of McDonald’s restaurants in America.

Protesters are calling McDonald’s action a publicity stunt and they say they will not stop the protest until they receive 15 dollars an hour and the right to form a union.
The protest is part of the Fight for 15 campaign, which is demanding 15 dollars an hour for all fast food workers in the U.S.Campaign officials say an estimated 1-point-5 million McDonald’s workers worldwide are still being paid low wages.Organizers say McDonald’s announcement was in reaction to the increasing protests from workers.

Protesters entered the restaurant where they continued to call for an industry-wide pay hike. The action is just a build-up to a day of strikes scheduled for April 15th.
Workers say it will be the biggest strike in the history of the fast-food industry. The April 15th strikes are expected to affect restaurants in more than 200 U.S. cities.
