'War no solution to ISIL'

Experts say military action provide no help in uprooting ISIL terrorists.

As calls are emerging in Britain for the country to play a more active role in fighting ISIL terrorists in Iraq, critics are already saying this is a fake position that lacks the required practicality.

British lawmakers in a report on Thursday called on the government of Prime Minister David Cameron to increase the role of the country in fighting ISIL terrorists in Iraq.

The report by the Parliament's Defense Select Committee said the role that Britain is playing in fighting ISIL is "strikingly modest" with on average less than one air strike a day. The Committee added that it was "surprised and deeply concerned" Britain was not doing more.

“A lot of this is just political posturing and it is meant to show that they [the British politicians] are trying to root out extremism,” said Nadim Reza, a London-based political commentator in an interview with Press TV.

“The reality is if you look at Britain’s involvement in the previous conflicts … all we do is that we cause more problems,” Reza said, warning that Britain’s fight against ISIL will result in nothing but more radicalization and a stronger hatred toward Britain and the West, in general.

He added that Britain and the US are to blame for the creation of ISIL terrorist group through what he described as “an unethical foreign policy”. Reza emphasized that confronting ISIL military will provide no help to uproot this terrorist group.

“What we have to do … is to admit and understand the role that foreign policy has played in creating theses monsters and then from there we can move forward,” Reza told Press TV’s UK Desk in an exclusive interview.

What we cannot do, he added, is to randomly bomb the ISIL-controlled areas which he said is sure to take many civilian lives.

“We will hit civilians. There would be damage. There will be lives lost. There will be families broken,” he warned.

Reza warned that if Britain increases its role in fighting ISIL – as demanded by the British Parliamentarians, the ISIL becomes much more aggressive in its military and in its actions.

It will be then, he said, that Britain should expect a lot more hatred.  That, Reza said, would result in more radicalization, more anger and undoubtedly more extremism.
