The formation of Sub-Saharan militant organizations being identified as terrorists groups is a relatively recent phenomenon that mushroomed in growth following the September 11, 2001 attacks.
While the rise of terrorism has caused instability in several states of the African continent, it is also evident that some African countries have used the fight against terrorism for their own political ends. And, in so doing, they have made deals with Western powers who, as ever, are more interested in the continued political exploitation of African people and its resources.
In this edition of Africa Today, we will discuss the issue and ask what impact American and French militarization has had on democratic practice in Africa?
