lots of evidence has been found since the mysterious death of AMIA special prosecutor Alberto Nisman in Buenos Aires. The case, which made headlines around the world, has now become a new political tool for the US to meddle in the Latin American affairs and blame Iran for the incident.
The US mainstream media outlets have urged the intervention of an international committee to probe the case but before anything else, they hold Tehran responsible for the bombing. In addition to this, the US Embassy has pushed to provide technical and intelligence support to the Argeninian government. Social movements and experts have warned against Washington's plans.
Fernando Esteche, one of the defendants accused by Nisman of orchestrating the alleged plot to favor Iran, challenged the government to look beyond and try to find out the international implications behind this case. He mentioned President Kirchner’s speech last year, when she pointed out where the enemies of her administration were from.
Back in 2010 Wikileaks revealed the secret ties between Prosecutor Nisman and the United States. According to the documents, he frequently sought US advice over the AMIA case investigations and leaked confidential information about his future moves. Furthermore, in one of the leaked cables, the US ambassador specifically ordered him to frame Iran for the 1994 bombings.
n the 90s, when the AMIA bombings took place, Argentina had a neoliberal foreign policy totally bowed to US interests. Wikileaks and declassified documents showed a wealth of secret diplomatic agreements aimed at misleading the investigations and conveniently diverting them following the US State Department’s directives.
