Australia and South Korea have beaten China and Uzbekistan, respectively, to make it to the last four of the AFC Asian Cup 2015.

South Korea stunned Uzbekistan with two goals in extra time on Thursday to reach the semi-finals of the competition for the third successive round. Bayer Leverkusen forward Son Heung-min scored the brace in Melbourne Rectangular Stadium in one of the most thrilling matches of the tournament.

Iran will take on Iraq in a much-anticipated encounter on Friday to determine the opponents of Uli Stielike’s men in the semi-finals. The two west Asian neighbors, both previous cup winners, will face each other in Canberra.

In the other match of the day, Australia overpowered China with a similar score line in Brisbane Stadium. The hosts, which experienced their first defeat of the competition in their final group match, against South Korea, saw legend Tim Cahill scoring twice in the second half to send the Socceroos through to the semis. Cahill’s first goal, an acrobatic overhead kick, is surely a top contender for the goal of the tournament.

Australia, the top favorites to win the cup, will face the winner of a Friday clash between Japan and the United Arab Emirates.

AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 will run until January 31.
