Iran seven-day plan

The Iranian parliament speaker has slammed Washington’s hostile moves and continued threats against Tehran, stressing that the carrot-and-stick approach has no effect on Iran. In a social media post, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the only way to make headway in indirect negotiations between Iran and the US is for Washington to accept Tehran’s seven conditions. He added that Iran’s conditions have been repeatedly and clearly stated to the mediators. His comments came after Iran's foreign minister said Iran is in contact with mediators to find ways to implement the country’s proposed seven-day plan. Abbas Araghchi added that talks with mediators are underway in order to give diplomacy a chance to succeed. Iran conveyed its seven-day plan to the US through Qatar in September. Under the plan, the Strait of Hormuz would reopen within seven days if Iran's conditions are met. Iran wants a ceasefire across all fronts in West Asia, the unfreezing of its assets, the lifting of sanctions on its oil sector, and an end to the US naval blockade.

US Iran aggression fallout

Eleven European countries have pledged to release millions of barrels of oil by the end of January to ease global supply concerns caused by the US aggression against Iran and the closure of the Hormuz Strait. Speaking to reporters, the European Union’s energy commissioner said the bloc’s member states have decided to accelerate release of 42.6 million barrels from strategic reserves over the next months. Dan Jorgensen added that around half of that figure will be diesel. The eleven countries, including France, Germany and Italy, said in a statement that they would release the oil from their strategic reserves by the end of January 2027. The announcement came weeks after the G7 members said they would release 100 million barrels of diesel and crude oil after President Donald Trump threatened to ban US diesel exports. The International Energy Agency called on its members in mid-October to step up the release of oil stocks ahead of winter. Trump mounted pressure on Europe to release energy reserves after the US-Israeli aggression against Iran sent global energy prices skyrocketing and made high fuel costs in the US a key issue ahead of midterm elections.

Yemen retaliatory operations

The Yemeni Armed Forces have carried out a host of retaliatory operations against Saudi targets, hitting the regime’s airports and oil facilities with missiles and drones. Saree said the operations were in response to Saudi attacks that killed dozens of Yemeni people and wounded many others, most of them women and children. He reaffirmed the Yemeni armed forces’ commitment to defend the country and its people, vowing to continue operations deep inside Saudi Arabia. Saree stressed that “a blockade for a blockade” and “an escalation for an escalation” equation remains in effect until the Saudi regime’s aggression ends and the siege on Yemen is lifted.
