Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says the United States is seeking to create insecurity in the Islamic Republic after failing to harm Iran through its latest military aggression against the country.
Qalibaf made the remarks during a meeting with Iran’s Police Chief Brigadier General Ahmadreza Radan and members of the Law Enforcement Command headquarters on Wednesday, held on the occasion of National Law Enforcement Week.
Referring to the heavy and intensified strikes carried out during the latest US-Israeli aggression against Iran, Qalibaf said the United States had learned during the war that it could not harm Iran through military action.
He said Washington had therefore focused its main efforts on exerting economic pressure on Iran and undermining the country’s internal security.
Noting that the country’s enemy plans to incite violent acts across the country, Qalibaf stated: “The enemy’s plot indicates that our main priority must be to enhance economic resilience and ensure domestic security.”
The meeting also saw members of the country’s Law Enforcement Command headquarters brief Qalibaf on the latest measures and achievements of law enforcement forces across various areas.
Qalibaf praised the commanders and personnel of the Law Enforcement Command across the country for their efforts to serve the public and safeguard national security.
The United States and Israel launched another round of aggression against Iran on February 28, some eight months after carrying out unprovoked attacks on the country.
Iran swiftly retaliated, launching barrages of missiles and drones at the Israeli-occupied territories, as well as US bases and interests across the region.
Since April 7, when US President Donald Trump announced a unilateral ceasefire, the United States has continued to carry out military violations against Iran.
The violations persisted even after Tehran and Washington signed a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding in June, with its first clause explicitly calling for a cessation of aggression on all fronts.
