Israel Gaza truce violations
The Israeli regime continues with its attacks in the war-torn Gaza Strip in blatant violation of the ceasefire deal with Hamas. Israeli warplanes targeted areas in northwestern Gaza, including Beit Lahia. Elsewhere in Gaza, Israeli armored vehicles opened fire on displaced Palestinians in the city of Deir al-Balah. The regime’s military also struck residential buildings in Khan Yunis. Since the ceasefire took effect last month, Israeli forces have carried out near-daily attacks in Gaza, killing at least 260 people. And since October 2023, the genocidal war on the Palestinian territory has claimed the lives of around 69,200 people.
China-Japan tensions
Tensions are rising between Beijing and Tokyo over Taiwan. China says Japan will suffer a crushing defeat by the Chinese military if it opts for intervention over Taiwan. The warning was issued as the two countries have been trading jabs after a controversial remark by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi about Taiwan. The Chinese Defense Ministry Spokesman said Takaichi’s words were extremely irresponsible and dangerous. The Japanese premier had said her country could respond with its own self-defense force if China attacked Taiwan. Her comments then sparked sharp criticism from Beijing.
Russia-Ukraine war
Russia has unleashed massive drone and missile strikes on the Ukrainian capital, causing explosions and casualties. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attacks killed at least four people and injured dozens more. The mayor of Kiev also said Russia’s multiple attacks targeted every single district in the city. He added that heating system in parts of the city sustained damage, warning of possible disruptions to power and water supplies. Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone attack damaged several apartment buildings, an oil depot and coastline structures in Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk. Russian defense ministry has said its forces shot down or intercepted over 200 drones overnight. More than 1300 days have passed since the Russia-Ukraine war broke out.
