Israel violates Gaza truce
The Israeli military has hit the Gaza Strip with more attacks despite a ceasefire agreement with Hamas resistance movement. Three airstrikes targeted buildings in the eastern part of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza. Additionally, Israeli drones have struck near camps for displaced people close to the Shujayea junction in Gaza City. Since a ceasefire was established on October 11, Israeli forces have conducted periodic attacks, often claiming that they are striking Palestinian groups planning attacks. However, Hamas has condemned these strikes as blatant violations of the ceasefire, accusing the Israeli Prime Minister of undermining the ongoing peace efforts. The US-Israeli genocidal war, which began in October 2023, has so far killed over 68,000 people.
China-Taiwan tensions
The Chinese military has conducted simulated combat drills using strategic bombers in the waters and airspace around Chinese Taipei. According to Chinese state media, the military’s Eastern Theater Command conducted a combat exercise involving H-6K strategic bombers and J-10 fighters. The aircraft flew to a designated area over air and sea, where the H-6Ks practiced skills including air blockades and precision strikes. The H-6K is a nuclear-capable bomber. The drill comes just days before a scheduled meeting between the US and Chinese presidents in South Korea. They are expected to hold talks on the sidelines of a regional summit this week to discuss their ongoing trade dispute.
Russia-Ukraine war
Russian military says it has downed nearly 200 Ukrainian drones, including dozens that were targeting Moscow. Russian authorities have reported that their air defenses destroyed 193 Ukrainian drones overnight across multiple regions. The deadliest attack happened in the Bryansk region, where a drone struck a minibus, killing the driver and injuring five passengers. Following the attack, two of Moscow's main airports were temporarily closed. Ukrainian officials say their strikes target Russian military infrastructure supporting the war. Meanwhile, on the ground, heavy fighting continues. Ukraine's National Guard reports intensified Russian assaults on Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, and Lyman fronts, where Ukrainian troops are holding defensive lines.
