Israeli ‘field executions’

The Israeli violations of the ceasefire continue in Gaza amid new Israeli airstrikes and disturbing allegations of war crimes. The Gaza Center for Human Rights documents 36 ceasefire violations, including today's strikes in Deir al-Balah, Gaza City and Khan Yunis that killed at least two people. Hamas says it is abiding by the truce, while human rights groups are calling for international investigations into what they label grave Israeli breaches of international law. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health says it has received 45 bodies of Palestinians that had been handed over by the Israeli regime to the Red Cross. Palestinian medical sources report that the bodies show signs of torture, blindfolds, and tank tracks, suggesting field executions. The death toll from the Israeli genocide since October 2023 has now risen to 67,938.

Afghanistan-Pakistan truce

Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to a temporary ceasefire following days of fierce border clashes between the two countries. Pakistani media report that a 24-hour ceasefire began at 1300 GMT. This follows renewed fighting between Pakistani troops and Afghanistan’s Taliban forces in a northwestern border region on Wednesday. Pakistan accused the Taliban of launching unprovoked attacks, prompting Islamabad to respond with full force. So far, at least 258 people have died on both sides, with Afghan officials reporting 58 Pakistani soldiers killed, while Pakistan claims its forces have killed 200 Taliban fighters

NATO counter-drone measures

NATO has announced new counter-drone measures aimed at enhancing the Alliance's ability to detect and neutralize aerial threats. NATO Secretary General made the remarks after a defense ministers meeting in Brussels. Asked if NATO and EU were doubling efforts on anti-drone projects, Mark Rutte said they work "closely together" but without any "duplication". The meeting also focused on bolstering support for Ukraine. Sweden, Estonia, and Finland pledged fresh contributions to fund American-made weapons for Kyiv. However, some countries, including Spain, Italy, France, and the United Kingdom, have faced criticism for their more cautious approach.
