Gaza ceasefire deal

Hamas resistance movement has handed over the bodies of four Israeli captives to the International Committee of the Red Cross, in Gaza’s Khan Yunis. The group says the move reflects Hamas's commitment to consolidate the ceasefire for long-term peace. Hamas says the captives were killed in the Israeli airstrikes during the 15-month genocide. On Saturday, the group will also release six more live captives in return for hundreds Palestinian prisoners that includes half of the women and children abducted by IOF during the genocide. Gaza resistance groups announced earlier that the movement is ready to release all Israeli captives in a single swap during the second phase of the truce deal.

Fate of Kamal Adwan hospital director

Israeli forces have released a video showing director of Kamal Adwan hospital, Doctor Hussam Abu Safiya, handcuffed and exhausted months after his arrest. Dr. Abu Safiya later in an interview with the Israeli media said he does not know his charges or the reason for his detention. The Palestinian doctor denied ever seeing or dealing with any Israeli captives in the hospital. He also denied that Palestinian fighters were treated there. The video marked the first appearance of Abu Safia since his arrest by the Israeli army in December last year. He gained prominence for his humanitarian role during Israel’s war on Gaza and was one of the leading doctors who continued working under bombardment to save the injured. Al Mezan Center for Human Rights said Dr. Abu Safiya has been subjected to torture and mistreatment.

Ukraine peace talks

US President Donald Trump says Russia has the cards in any peace talks to end the war in Ukraine. Trump said he trusted that Moscow wants to see an end to the war. He was flying back to Washington DC after speaking at a Saudi-backed investment meeting in Florida, where he called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a dictator for the second time in a day. On Tuesday, US and Russian officials held their first high-level, face-to-face talks about ending the war in Ukraine. Kiev was not invited. Zelensky, reacting to the talks, said the US president was living in a disinformation space governed by Moscow. Trump has urged Zelensky to move fast on a deal to end the war with Russia. Despite all these issues, the Ukrainian president is set to meet US envoy Keith Kellogg on Thursday.
