Leader remarks
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution says the US seeks to achieve dominance over countries either through installing dictators or creating chaos. In Syria, he says, it opted for the latter. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the US, Israel and their allies now consider themselves victorious. He said such a sense of triumph has led them to lose control and utter nonsense. Ayatollah Khamenei cited an American official, who recently suggested that the US would help anyone who starts a riot in Iran. He stressed that the Iranian nation would crush underfoot anyone who agrees to become a US mercenary. Ayatollah Khamenei said Syrian youth should also resolutely stand up to those who are behind the insecurity in their country. He expressed confidence that the Syrians will succeed and that a "strong honorable establishment" would emerge in their country. Ayatollah Khamenei also dismissed claims that Iran has lost its proxies in the region, saying the country does not have any such forces.
US-Israeli genocide in Gaza
More Palestinian civilians have been slaughtered in Gaza as the Israeli military continues to pound the blockaded territory with air and artillery strikes as part of the regime’s genocidal war. In one of the deadliest strikes, at least eleven people were killed and several others wounded after Israeli warplanes bombed a Palestinian house in the Deir al-Balah area, central Gaza. An earlier Israeli attack on a school, housing displaced Palestinians in al-Daraj neighborhood, northeast of Gaza City, left at least eight dead and several wounded. The Israeli artillery also shelled several areas across Gaza, killing and injuring an unknown number of Palestinians. The Israeli aggression began in October last year. Since then, more than 45,200 Palestinians have been killed and over 107,500 others injured.
US aircraft shut down
The US Navy has shot down its own fighter jet taking part in an operation against Yemen. US Central Command says the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg mistakenly hit an F/A-18 over the Red Sea. Both pilots were recovered alive after ejecting from their aircraft. One of them suffered minor injuries. The friendly fire incident took place after the US and UK conducted a new round of airstrikes on the Yemeni capital, Sana’a, and the port city of Hudaydah. Meanwhile, a senior Yemeni official with the Anasarullah Movement has said the US military is hiding the truth behind the incident in order to keep up the morale of its forces in the region. The United States and Britain have been carrying out military strikes in Yemen for nearly a year. They say the strikes are in response to Yemeni pro-Palestine military attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.
