Iran, Jordan underline need to stop Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi have underlined the need for an end to Israel’s months-long aggression against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Amir-Abdollahian and Safadi met on the sidelines of a United Nations Security Council's meeting in New York on Thursday as the two exchanged views on the latest developments in Gaza and across the region.

The top Iranian diplomat described the US administration’s continued support of the Israeli regime and Washington’s lack of determination to end the war in Gaza as well as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s warmongering attitude as the main reason for the continuation of genocide against the Palestinians.

Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the need for the continued efforts of the international community, especially the Islamic countries, to end the Israeli aggression against the besieged territory.

Pointing to the critical situation in the Gaza Strip, the Iranian foreign minister called for decisive action by the international community and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its member countries to confront the occupying entity's crimes.

Elsewhere in his meeting, Amir-Abdollahian pointed to the necessity and dimensions of Iran’s retaliation against Israel late on Saturday within the framework of legitimate defense after the regime’s recent aggression on the Iranian diplomatic facilities in the Syrian capital of Damascus.

Underlining that Iran's military action against Israel was “very precise and calculated,” the Iranian foreign minister said, “Iran’s military response to Israel's attack was only a limited and minimal operation, and in case of any further adventurism by the Israeli regime, Iran's response will be decisive, immediate and maximum.”

Safadi, for his part, expressed gratitude for the Islamic Republic’s diplomatic efforts to stop the Israeli war against Palestinians in Gaza.

Safadi described the situation in Palestine as tough and complicated, stressing that Jordan will continue its efforts to stop the war against Gaza through all possible means.

The Jordanian foreign minister also pointed to his country's views on the political solution to the Palestinian crisis and stressed Amman’s firm opposition to any attempt to relocate Palestinians to neighboring countries.

Safadi said Jordan and Iran have common views and positions on the need to end the war against Gaza as soon as possible and called for the continuation of efforts in that regard.

Israel launched the brutal campaign in the Gaza Strip on October 7. The death toll from the regime’s relentless attacks now tops 34,000, mostly women and children.

Figures also show more than 14,500 of Gaza’s 1.1 million children have been killed since that October day. Thousands more are missing, presumed buried under the rubble.

Iran, UAE discuss regional developments

In a phone conversation on Thursday, Amir-Abdollahian and his Emirati counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan exchanged their views on the latest developments in Gaza and the continuation of Israeli aggression on Gaza.

The two foreign ministers underlined the need to stop the occupying regime’s crimes as soon as possible and to accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Amir-Abdollahian expressed his regret over the severe flooding in the UAE and announced Iran's readiness to help the affected people.

The top Emirati diplomat also emphasized his country's will to develop bilateral relations with Iran in all fields as the two placed a premium on the regular holding of joint economic and consular committees.
