US approval of Israel's claim to Syria's Golan Heights

In 1967, Israel waged a full-scale war against Arab territories during which it occupied a large swathe of Syria’s Golan Heights.

Then in 1981, the Israeli regime unilaterally annexed the Golan Heights in a move never recognized by the international community.

Despite the international outcry, Washington has recognized Israel’s sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights in 2019.
