Gaza ceasefire deal

183 more Palestinian abductees have been set free from Israeli jails, marking the fourth stage of the regime’s exchange deal with Hamas. The freed abductees include 18 Palestinians who were serving life sentences. 111 Gazans who were abducted since October 7, 2023 are also amongst this group. The freed Palestinians were sent to Ramallah and Khan Yunis. They were greeted by thousands of people. According to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society, the freed prisoners were then taken to hospital, many of whom were beaten for about a week before they were released. The abducted Palestinians have shared their feelings, saying that their freedom is owed to the many lives which were lost during the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza.

Rafah crossing reopened

United Nations vehicles and ambulances have evacuated the first group of Palestinian patients from Gaza to Egypt via the Rafah border crossing. The World Health Organization confirmed that the patients include war-related injuries, in addition to those suffering from various health issues. The group consisted of 50 patients and their companions including a child with an autoimmune disease. The Gaza Health Ministry says there are 6,000 cases ready to be transferred and over 12,000 cases that are in dire need of treatment. The reopening of the Rafah crossing marks a significant development for Palestinians, as it has been under Israeli control for nearly nine months.

Rejecting Trump’s Gaza proposal

Five Arab foreign ministers have firmly rejected US President Trump’s proposal to forcibly displace Palestinians into neighboring countries. Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar voiced their opposition during a meeting in Cairo on Saturday. The foreign ministers categorically rejected any infringement on the inalienable rights of Palestinians, including annexation, depopulation, or displacement. They also expressed their willingness to work with the Trump administration to achieve what they called a “just and comprehensive peace” in West Asia. Last week, Trump said Gaza should be "cleaned out and what remains of its pre-war population of 2.3 million should be moved to Jordan and Egypt."
