Another MQ-9 drone shot down
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps says four oil tankers that were attempting to transit via an unauthorized route in the Hormuz Strait have been destroyed after hitting sea mines. In a statement, the IRGC said the four tankers are now engulfed in flames. It added that two other violating vessels were also stopped. According to the statement, the IRGC Aerospace Force shot down another MQ-9 drone over the Hormuz Strait. That was the 56th such aerial vehicle shot down by the Iranian air defense forces since the beginning of the recent imposed war. The statement also warned that the Iranian armed forces have their hands on the trigger, and are ready to deliver the final blow to the US and the Israeli regime.
Fight against global arrogance
People are holding rallies in the capital Tehran and other Iranian cities on the occasion of the national day of fight against the global arrogance. The occasion is actually the anniversary of the seizure of the US embassy by Iranian students in November 1979, months after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. Students are among those marching now in the streets of Tehran toward the former US embassy, known as the Den of Espionage. Participants are holding flags of Iran, chanting slogans against the US. They express that they are adamant in standing up to any form of domination and won’t back down on the very principles of the Islamic Revolution.
Democrats win control of Congress
Turning now to the US midterm elections; Democrats win control of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Republicans, who have had control of the House since 2023, failed to defend their narrow majority. For the US Senate, Democrats have won a 54-member majority so far. The elections are regarded as a nationwide verdict on Trump’s turbulent second term, with discontent over costs of living, tariffs and the US war on Iran.
