Complying with Hamas’ demands

Today, three more Zionist captives were released by Palestinian resistance groups in exchange for 369 Palestinians held in Israeli occupation jails. The exchange was part of the first phase of a ceasefire deal, which has so far freed 21 captives for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, many heroic and iconic figures of the struggle for Palestinian liberation.

Yet this very swap today almost fell through as Hamas had earlier said it would not release any more captives if the Zionist entity continued to violate the January 19 ceasefire deal. US President Donald Trump and Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu got involved with threats of violence and renewed onslaught, yet Hamas said no, and stood its ground, saying no threats were going to work.

How it all played out leading to today's swap deal is the focus of this edition of the Spotlight program.
