US grip on West Asia crumbling after failed aggression against Iran: Analyst

Naqvi maintains that Washington’s weakened military position has left it with fewer reliable partners and diminished capacity to respond to regional crises.

Human rights activist Mohsin Naqvi says the US is facing a significant erosion of its power in West Asia, as attacks on its regional military bases have reportedly rendered some facilities non-functional, undermining Washington’s military posture and its ability to protect regional allies.

In an interview with Press TV on Tuesday, he argues that Washington, once confident it could defeat Iran within days, has become mired in a prolonged conflict, failing to achieve its stated war objectives and raising questions about its standing as a regional superpower.

Naqvi maintains that Washington’s weakened military position has left it with fewer reliable partners and diminished capacity to respond to regional crises. The economic fallout, he says, could further undermine American dominance, pointing to disruptions in global shipping and growing efforts by countries to reduce their reliance on the US dollar in international trade. Touching on the early stage of these shifts, he views them as signs of a gradual transition towards a multipolar world order.

Crediting Iran, Yemen and the broader Axis of Resistance with confronting American imperialism and its regional allies, Naqvi argues that, unlike other regional governments that have accommodated Washington’s interests, the resistance front has challenged US military dominance and exposed the limits of its power despite decades of American military interventions and overwhelming conventional capabilities.

Addressing Iran’s ability to confront the US, Naqvi points to its strategic independence and domestically developed weapons and missile capabilities, arguing that despite its relatively limited military spending, Iran has been able to challenge a far more powerful adversary through shared objectives and solidarity within the Axis of Resistance, demonstrating how sovereign strategic vision can counter superior military resources and foreign influence.
