US warmongering accelerated power shift toward East: Iranian military advisor
A senior military adviser to the commander-in-chief of Iran's armed forces says the United States’ warmongering hastened the shifting of the balance of power toward the East.
Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi made the remarks on Thursday amid escalating tensions in West Asia caused by the US strikes on Iranian oil tankers that triggered Tehran’s retaliatory strikes against American vessels and bases.
“The US warmongering was the best catalyst for a shift in the global balance of power and economic center of gravity toward the East,” he said.
“The attempt to portray it as a victory is a sign of defeat and an acknowledgment that the world is moving toward a multipolar balance of power and international security.”
US President Donald Trump has claimed “victory” several dozen times in the illegal war of aggression that his administration launched alongside the Israeli regime against Iran on February 28.
This is while the enemies were forced to accept a ceasefire forty days into the war amid Iran’s resistance, successful reprisal attacks, and a powerful grip on the Strait of Hormuz.
In July, the United States conducted waves of deadly air raids on Iran and imposed a naval blockade of the country in violation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Islamic Republic, signed on June 17, to end the war.
In response, the Iranian armed forces launched devastating strikes against strategic American targets across the region and declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to all traffic.
The US, however, has continued its hostile and interventionist actions in a bid to undermine Iran’s legitimate sovereignty over the strait, the strategic waterway responsible for a fifth of global oil demand.
