Americans reject war as Trump's Ayat. Khamenei assassination bid backfires

Political commentator Ryan Dawson argues that US President Donald Trump miscalculated in assuming that military strikes and the targeting of senior Iranian officials would trigger regime change, suggesting the approach has instead deepened regional tensions.

Dawson framed US policy toward Iran as the product of longstanding strategic interests aligned with Israel rather than the agenda of any single administration, contending the broader aim of the conflict is to degrade Tehran's backing of resistance groups across the region.

He further asserts that the American public has little appetite for a war with Iran, and slams Trump for weaponizing concerns over the country's nuclear program to justify military action. Dawson says the president remains unwilling to acknowledge what he describes as a policy failure, opting instead to continue escalating US involvement.
