The invading US-Israeli coalition continues its strikes against Iran's academic and civilian infrastructure as the latest attack has severely damaged a research center at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.
Shahid Beheshti University announced in a statement that it was targeted on Friday, slamming the attack as a continuation of hostility against science and research.
The building of one of the educational and research centers of this university in the Velenjak area was targeted by a direct attack of the criminal US-Israeli enemy, and a significant part of this center was destroyed, the statement read.

Confirming the purely civilian nature of the targeted site, the Deputy for International Affairs of the Red Crescent stated, "the building hit by the enemy's attacks belongs to the Laser and Plasma Research Institute of Shahid Beheshti University."
This hostile act has not only targeted the security of academics and the scientific environment of the country, but it is also considered a clear attack on wisdom, research, and freedom of thought, the statement added.
While strongly condemning this aggression, Shahid Beheshti University declares its full support for professors, researchers, and students and emphasizes that this attack will make the resolve of the Iranian academic community firmer in continuing the scientific and research path, based on the statement.

The university also called on all scientific institutions, media, and the international community to end their silence in the face of hostile, anti-human, and anti-science behaviors by reflecting the reality of this attack and other cowardly actions of the malicious American-Zionist enemies against civilian, educational, and medical centers, the statement noted.
The United States and Israel launched their criminal aggression against Iran on February 28 by assassinating Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyyed Ali Khamenei along with senior military commanders.
The enemies have deliberately targeted Iran’s civilian infrastructure and energy facilities, killing hundreds of Iranian people. The latest victim of this indiscriminate bombing campaign is one of the nation's premier academic institutions.

Shahid Beheshti is not the first university to be targeted by the invading coalition in the past month.
The Faculty of Pharmacy at Shiraz University was hit on March 14 and Isfahan University of Technology was attacked 10 days later.
Strikes also targeted parts of the Science and Technology Campus and the Veterinary Specialized Hospital Campus at Urmia University and one that hit Tehran’s University of Science and Technology.
