Gazans vaporized by Israel's use of US-supplied weapons: Report

Investigation finds Israel’s use of thermal bombs has left thousands in Gaza “evaporated.”

An investigative report shows the Israeli regime's use of thermal and thermobaric bombs in Gaza has left thousands of Palestinian bodies evaporated.

An investigation by Al Jazeera Arabic, cited in a Tuesday report by Middle East Eye, showed that weapons supplied to the Israeli regime by the United States for use in the genocidal war in Gaza were capable of generating temperatures exceeding 3,500 degrees Celsius (6,332 degrees Fahrenheit), causing the bodies of the Palestinians to “vaporize and turn to ash.”

The US-manufactured munitions were mostly vacuum or aerosol bombs, including the MK-84 “Hammer”, the BLU-109 bunker buster, and the GBU-39 small diameter bomb. Many of them contain tritonal, a mixture of TNT and aluminum powder that can generate intense heat, the investigation said.

More than 2,800 Palestinians have vanished since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza in October 2023, according to civil defense teams in the territory, who believe many of those people have “evaporated” as a result of Israel’s use of the banned American weapons.

Health officials in Gaza have confirmed the vaporization of people in the territory, documenting remains including flesh, specks of blood, or even ash that point to the use of internationally prohibited thermal and thermobaric weapons.

“If a family tells us there were five people inside, and we only recover three intact bodies, we treat the remaining two as ‘evaporated’ only after an exhaustive search yields nothing but biological traces - blood spray on walls or small fragments like scalps,” Al Jazeera quoted Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal as saying.

The investigation comes nearly three months after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas said that bodies were being “vaporized” in Gaza while calling for an international committee to investigate the use of certain banned weapons by Israel.
