Israel W. Bank schemes condemned

Israel’s latest approval of measures to expand its powers in the occupied West Bank has drawn condemnation from countries and international bodies. Anouar El Anouni, Spokesperson of the EU, has criticized the move as a mistake. Anouni’s remarks follow a decision by the Israeli security cabinet that eases selling Palestinian lands to Israeli settlers. Meanwhile, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) says Israel’s colonial policy constitutes a war crime and a flagrant violation of international law and UN resolutions. Several Muslim states, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Indonesia and Egypt, in a joint statement, condemned in strongest terms Tel Aviv’s illegal decision. They emphasized that Israel's measures in the West Bank aim to accelerate the illegal annexation of the territory and the displacement of the Palestinians. Hamas and Islamic Jihad also condemned Israel’s expansionist policy, warning that the repercussions of the move extend to the United States and the countries that normalized relations with Tel Aviv.

'Hezbollah can't be disarmed'

The Leader of Hezbollah resistance movement says Lebanon will not submit to the global pressure to disarm the resistance since that will strip the country of the right to self-defense. Naim Qassem said the United States tried to destroy the resistance during the past fifteen months but to no avail. He added that Washington tries through diplomatic ways to achieve what it could not get through force. Naim Qassem called the US-Israeli aggression against Lebanon as the main problem for the country warning about Tel Aviv's expansionist plans for the entire region. He said the enemies have been humiliated despite forty-two years of struggle to destabilize Lebanon. The Hezbollah chief condemned the US efforts to prevent the reconstruction of Lebanon urging all Lebanese people to contribute to the rebuilding of the country. He also hailed a recent visit by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to southern Lebanon as a positive step.
